From being a leading and innovative specialist in complex demolition processes the Company has developed in to a major player across a number of sectors including offshore wind, demolition, decommissioning, site reclamation, land, property and ports development.

To help achieve this, Able is providing and developing new bespoke port facilities on both the River Tees and the River Humber, with the latter set to establish one of Europe’s most extensive new industrial offshore wind clusters. These activities are fully supported by Government and the Humber facility has secured Freeport Tax Site status.

The Group also remains a European market leader in the receipt and disposal of redundant oil and gas structures, achieving a c. 99%+ recycling rate at its Able Seaton Port near Hartlepool.

As a major landowner across the north of England – including one of the UK’s largest vehicle storage and distribution centres near Immingham in Humberside, the property development arm of the Group is committed to delivering environmentally friendly solutions that best serve the needs of supporting communities.

Due to the above, the group is continually growing, and we are currently looking for a SHEQ Co-ordinator to join our team.

OBJECTIVE

As the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Coordinator you will report to and support the Head of SHEQ to maintain Able UKs Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Policies and management systems. The role will assist in driving forward environmental and sustainability plans, supporting and coordinating progress with a ‘Carbon Zero Strategy’. To review environmental arrangements, so they are aligned to strategic and legislative requirements.

Support the development and improvement processes with the associated procedures for compliance with and maintaining Able UK certification to ISO 14001, ISO 9001 & ISO 45001, and in the future ISO50001.

You must be well organised, capable, reliable and have experience construction industry / demolition industry

You must be able work on your own initiative with the minimum of supervision yet work with the Group SHEQ Team.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Continually review, develop, and improve processes and associated procedures for complying with and maintaining Able UK certification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001).

  • Support the Head of SHEQ to develop and manage SHEQ processes and procedures within Able UK’s management systems.

  • Representing the Group and providing updates on matters concerning the Group’s performance in environmental and quality matters.

  • Liaise with external bodies (Accreditation, EA, LA, etc), and external stakeholders, as required.

  • Assist with the maintenance of the management systems layout to maximise ease of navigation, use and accessibility.

  • Support the Head of SHEQ regarding the Development and maintenance for an effective audit process which includes the undertaking of effective audits, issue of associated reports and follow up of actions and associated evidence as appropriate.

  • Provide accurate information relating to assurance, certification, and associated performance to meet the requirements of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Encourage Able UK Managers to effectively use the Able UK management systems.

  • Support the identification and development of ‘Continual Improvement’, for activities associated with Able UK operations.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Ensuring all health and safety regulations are followed in the workplace.

  • Assist and support the Head of SHEQ with creating and implementing programs to promote health and safety.

  • Conducting inspections and audits to ensure Health and Safety compliance.

  • Identifying and evaluating potential health and safety hazards.

  • Implementing measures to mitigate or eliminate hazards.

  • Assist with the development and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with Company and Project safety, health and environment regulations; develop and manage the SHEQ team to ensure provision of competent advice and support to the business that complies with Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.

  • Supply reliable and timely H&S data, evaluating to identify priorities that are delivered strategically through sustainable plans.

  • Maintain the incident recording system.

  • Look for creative ways to strengthen the H&S culture in Able UK.

  • Assist with the development, implementation, monitoring and auditing of health and safety procedures and policies. Tracking any improvement action plans and ensuring regular timely inspections and audits are undertaken.

ENVIRONMENTAL

  • Assisting the drive forward for Able UKs environmental commitments and objectives, inc ‘Carbon Zero Strategy’.

  • Ensure that the Environmental ‘Aspects and Impacts’ are kept up to date with regard to legislative compliance and regulatory control.

  • Support and assist the development and implementation of the EMS within the Integrated Management System.

  • Assist with projects on environmental issues and with legislative compliance and regulatory control.

  • Preparation of environmental reports, management plans and reports required by the Environmental Permits.

  • Carry out Environmental Audits as part of the Environmental Management System (EMS).

  • Support in the development, implementation and update of the Environmental Policy and EMS.

QUALITY

  • Coordinating the groups quality plans and objectives in accordance with ISO 9001.

  • Planning, preparing, developing, and maintaining Quality Plans including updates on current and new requirements.

  • Carrying out quality audits producing audit reports. Analyse results and produce quality performance statistics.

  • Support the head of SHEQ with the Able UK Audit schedule detailing internal and external audit programs as required for the Management systems, external accreditation, and client/customer requirements.

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and update of the Quality Policy and QMS.
