The site is operated by ALAB Environmental Services Ltd.

ALAB has developed the Seaton Meadows Landfill Site into a waste facility with purpose-built Mono-Cells that can accept “Stable Non Reactive Hazardous Waste”. Also, with the implementation of the Landfill Directive, ALAB has also developed a Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant at the Seaton Meadows facility. The plant is capable of ensuring the legislative requirement of Pre-Treatment meets the constraints of the “Waste Acceptance Criteria.”

The site is capable of taking a wide range of waste from a variety of sources including the offshore industry and manufacturing.

Seaton Meadows Landfill Site is low-lying in the coastal plain approximately 1.5km from the Tees Estuary.

The nearest major population centres are Seaton Carew (1.5km North) and Graythorp (1km Southwest).

Since first operating in 1983 the landfill site has seen extensive investment, with the development of new underground storage cells – to date £2m has been invested with additional plans for a further £1.1m being considered.

The on-going investment programme includes the purchase of plant and equipment, which over the last 10 years has represented an investment of £1.49m.

The site is managed by a dedicated team of 6 locally based employees, which is supported by the Head Office functions of the Group, including HR and QHSSE.

In addition the landfill activity has generated over £18m of Landfill tax, releasing £1.2m of Landfill Tax Credits which, of course, will benefit local communities.
